The long weekend that was

It’s happened. Last Friday I turned 29 and my concerns that were swirling around in my mind in the lead up weren’t realised. There was no dread on the day, no sadness that the milestones in my 29 years didn’t match the milestones in other peoples years.

In fact it was a fairly low key affair surrounded by some special loved ones.

The day started with a surprise massage booking the boyfriend had planned and let’s just say that earnt him some serious brownie points!

Then we drove out to Poacher’s Pantry for a country lunch of local produce, beautiful scenery and deliscious local wine. While the boyfriend wasn’t a huge fan of his meal (don’t get the lamb), my barramundi was amazing. It was crispy on top and moist in the middle on a bed of mash with truffle oil and other vegetables. I took my time eating it savouring every mouthful! And the wine, well if you’re ever after a lovely local white wine, you can’t go past Willy Trout. I’ll definitely be picking up a few bottles next time I’m out there!

Then that evening what was meant to be a dinner with the boyfriends family quickly morphed into a table of 12 of friends and family consuming all the dumplings we could. Topped off with a cake from my childhood – the Women’s Weekly doll cake!

It was one of those really nice days. Nothing went wrong, lots of time was spent with people I love and there was a three day weekend to look forward to!
