I think I’ve mentioned before that my parents don’t live in Canberra. They live in different places and I get to see them once a year if I’m lucky.

On ANZAC Day my Dad popped into Canberra and planned on staying for a few days, on the same day The Pool Boy and I had planned to have lunch with his Mum. Why not invite Dad along as well and we get one half of our parents to meet?

We went to the lovely Suburban in Manuka for some lunch time finery and both parents bonded over raising shit head children and travelling overseas. The shit heads being my siblings of course, not me.

They seemed to get along well and that was that for their first meeting.

I think The Pool Boy and I were more nervous than they were, what exactly we were nervous about I have no idea.

The hard part will be getting all four of our parents into the one room, considering his parents have split and so have mine and things are, shall we say, awkward for all parties involved.

At least we don’t have to worry about that for a while!

Do you have an interesting meet the parents story?
